Doc Martens

I'm definitely really into Doc Martens lately (and by lately, I mean most of my life). When I was about 5 years old, I had a pair of rainbow kids Doc Martens, which obviously I've outgrown.

Ever since then I've wanted another pair, and I think that now (as my feet are going to be this size for the rest of my life) is a good time to invest in a pair.

My requirements in looking at the different colors are that they have to go with three things: black pants, gray pants, and jeans. That said, here are the colors I like:

Discovery

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort has an online store for Harry Potter stuff!??! Apparently so.

I really want to order two things:

New Book Bag

This bag caught my eye when I was in Barnes & Noble the other day downloading the Mighty Eagle for Angry Birds on my Nook Color.

I looked it up online a few days later, and after I read a few reviews, I decided that I should get it. And boy am I ever glad that I did. It's big enough to carry all of my school notebooks and textbooks, has two outer pockets the perfect size for my planner and my Nook Color, AND it has two end pockets the perfect size for my CamelBack water bottle and my coffee tumbler.

In the end, it was the huge amount of positive reviews that convinced me to go for it. Plus it's only $30 and I had a 15% off coupon.

Can you see the Space Needle?

This backpack from Jansport at the Container Store is actually made of images of the Seattle skyline.

I don't think I could love this any more than I do.

Love This!

This is a new item in the Harry Potter Apparel section of WB.com, and I absolutely love it!

I can't decide whether I like the Gryffindor or the Slytherin one better.

Summer Wishlist Item #11

The Vera Bradley Fall 2011 Stadium Blanket. It's a special item only available between September 1st and 13th. I'm not sure which color I like best.

Summer Wishlist Item #8

I really like this shopper tote from Vera Bradley. The elephant is adorable!

I've also been to see the bag in person, and I'm pleased to report that it's quite sturdy and spacious. It also has a nice small pocket on the inside for shopping lists and money.

This isn't normally the type of bag I'd go for, but I do usually bring my own bags to the grocery store, and this is almost too cute to pass up. It's also only $8.

Go see it. Right now.

Converse

Anyone who knows me knows that I have kind of a thing for Converse. As in I have waaaay too many of them. I think at last count I had eleven pairs.

However, when I became a college student, I stopped wearing them.

Why?

It's too much work to tie laces most days. Now I just wear a lot of Vans and sometimes flats.

That said, I'm a huge fan of the Converse Fall collection, especially the new signature colors they have going.

My two favorites are Cinnabar and Lead.

Way Too Cute

Love these!

They're plush versions of your organs. Kind of like giant microbes, but instead of diseases, organs.

My favorite is the intestine, which is the blue and pink one in the center.

Just in time for the premiere

I've been in a crafting mood lately, so I made this shirt. I used the "Magical Me" font found here, printed, cut out, and traced the letters onto the shirt, and then I painted them in with two coats of gold fabric paint from Michael's.

I think it turned out pretty well, if a bit off-center. It's ok though because I also bought some appliqué things that I want to make a graphic of some sort with to put in the blank spot.

I'll be wearing this shirt to the premiere of HP7.2 tonight! Can't wait :]. This may also possibly be the saddest day of my life (second only to the day HP7 came out).

But not all is lost. Pottermore will arrive soon.

I just don't get it

Fiji Water.

I. Just. Don't. Get. It.

People rave about this stuff, so I bought a bottle the other day.

It tastes like normal water to me.....?

This is an awesome tapestry

This tapestry "Captive Unicorn" by an unknown artist. It's an interesting tapestry, and the company I'm working for this summer, Artifact Puzzles, is making a wooden jigsaw puzzle out of it later this year.

The best part about this tapestry was a complete surprise:

The other day I was watching the 6th Harry Potter movie, and I saw this on the wall behind Harry and Ginny as they're about to go into the Room of Requirement to stash Harry's copy of Advanced Potionmaking. So not only is it a cool image, it's IN THE HARRY POTTER FILMS.

This makes the tapestry infinitely cooler. The only downside is that its being on the wall outside the Room of Requirement is totally incorrect. In the true source of Harry Potter knowledge (i.e. the books), the wall outside the Room of Requirement is totally bare (in the book "a blank stretch of wall") and on the wall across there is a tapestry of a wizard trying to teach trolls to do ballet (they're wearing tutus). Nothing to do with a unicorn. Oh well.

When have the HP films ever cared about accuracy anyway? Cough the Burrow burning down in the 6th film cough and then magically reappearing in film 7.1 cough.

Summer Wishlist Item #7

This bag from Betsey Johnson. I found it on her website last night and decided to post about it today, and strangely enough it's no longer on her website! It's on ebay and google though, so all is well (I'm more of an ebay buyer anyway).

It's fun and funky and kind of weird, but I think it's cute and it definitely makes me smile, and that's enough for me.

It comes in a crossbody/clutch and a tote.

Summer Wishlist Item #6

Sorry I haven't posted in a while! Don't worry, I'm back. :]

I folded a bunch of glossy brochures today (they were very thick) and I used a round wooden pencil and the handles on a pair of scissors to flatten my folds. After about an hour my fingers are quite sore.

I need one of these:

It's called a folding bone. Good for crafting.

Vera Bradley Fall 2011 Pattern: Safari Sunset

This is the second VB Fall 2011 Pattern. See previous post for more details/additional Fall 2011 Pattern.

Vera Bradley Fall 2011 Pattern: Mocha Rouge

Vera Bradley typically does a preview/sale of all of their patterns 6 months or so before they are officially released. These last about 2 weeks and I am lucky enough that the VB Signature Store in the Bellevue Square Mall usually participates. Not all of the signature stores (and certainly none of the retailers) do, but I imagine for market research/buying trend purposes the Bellevue store is pretty unique.

Anyway I bought two wristlets in two of the new colors over spring break when I was home from school. This is the first one. The color is called Mocha Rouge. The colors are pretty accurate/the best I could do. The main difference between these and real life is that in person the fabric/colors are a lot brighter. They look really faded in my photos. My apologies.

I'll post a photo of the other one - Safari Sunset - tomorrow.

Summer Wishlist Item #5

This necklace. It's a long pendant, Harry Potter-inspired, AND an owl (my sorority symbol). This couldn't be any more perfect for me.

I'll probably order it after my birthday. It's on Etsy.

Check out the rest of the seller's items!

Pillow Pets

Today I got a mini Pillow Pet. It's called a Pillow Pet PeeWee and is just the right size to be a travel pillow. Aka every time I board an airplane from now on, I will be accompanied by a small purple hippo that turns into a pillow.

Yes.

Summer Wishlist Item #4

Item #3: These Shoes. They're from Lilly Pulitzer.

Way too expensive for real life, but I figured I like them enough to blog about them!

Also in silver.

New Purse

I got this today. It was about $18 after many many markdowns at The Gap of all places. Who knew?

Obviously one of the major draws is that it's silver. I also just like bags of this size and I don't have a whole lot of them. Most of my purses are small-ish crossbody bags. I like a purse that can hold my coat AND my shopping.

The flash makes the fabric look really flimsy - but it isn't. Also the weird shadow is because I took this while sitting under my dining room table. The shadow is from the tablecloth. I couldn't find anywhere more convenient to hang it haha.

Happiest Place on Earth

The Happiest Place on Earth is actually a tie between two places. Not just Disneyland. Disneyland AND the Dollar Bins at Target.

Really. Target's Dollar Bins are the source of about 40% of my purchases every time I got to Target. Today I went to Target to get some new eyeliner (I'm out) and some hair clips (my bangs are too long) and ended up with both of these things and a ton of useful things from the dollar bins!
I got some thin plastic headbands (for the bangs), some hair ties (I've just got a lot of hair, ok?), some blank cards (I always need thank-you notes!), and these three notepads.

I probably live off of the notepads from the Target Dollar Bins. I have at least 6 now and because I make lists for everything I need to do ever, they end up being really useful.

Also two of these are Hello Kitty and one of them is in my sorority colors (Cardinal&Straw <3), and so I just couldn't help myself.

My Thoughts on Tonight's Bachelorette

Tonight was Episode 3 of Ashley Hebert's season of the Bachelorette. Can I just say a few things?

1.) Bentley. He is clearly the worst guy in America. I can't believe he lied all the way through that! I also can't believe Ashley fell for him. The one good thing about him leaving tonight was that I was thinking from the season previews after episode 1 that he was going to draw it out till the end (Frank and Ali anyone? 'Oh yeah so sometime in the last 12 weeks I've spent dating you I actually fell in love with my ex-girlfriend. Oops.'

2.) William. Too too bad. I really liked him. At least Ashley is giving him a second chance.

3.) Ashley's dress during the rose ceremony. Loved it! Too bad I can't find a photo of it. Ashley is also the cutest thing ever. I loved William's comment in episode 1: "A lot of women seem to love you". Ashley's response: "Let's hope some men do too!"

4.) The Tip-Off. Did anyone else notice that Ashley's anonymous tip-giver remained unnamed until tonight? And then she drops that it was Michelle Money! Why am I not surprised?? I would like to point out that both Michelle and Bentley are (older) single parents on the show and easily the most annoying people from their respective seasons. I personally think Bentley should date Michelle. Or that Michelle should have been the Bachelorette. Now there's a thought....

5.) Ben F. and Constantine both look alike. They also both look like Craig N. from Ali's season. Or as I liked to call him - 'the Neanderthal' [I think he looks like the cavemen from the Geico commericals]. Plus they sit next to each other all the time. Maybe they're subconsciously attracted to each other as friends because they look alike??

That's all for this week! :] Can't wait for next week!

P.S. Everyone should play the Bachelorette Fantasy Game! If you know your FB privacy settings they can't post anything to your wall! Too bad you don't....I'd recommend getting to know those first/right away.

Summer Wishlist Item #3

Item #3:

Blogger won't let me upload an image, but it's cute. I'd want either the lime or the turquoise band with navy monogrammed letters. That way it would match my Vera Bradley beach towel. :] Trust me that is a good reason.

Summer Wishlist Item #2

Item #2:
* Hello Kitty Sleeve for iPad 2.

Could this be any cuter? No.

Summer Wishlist Item #1

I make seasonal wishlists (come on who doesn't?), but they aren't always by season.

For example:
* Christmas Wishlist
* Birthday Wishlist
* Ways to Spend my Summer Paycheck Wishlist
* Things to Buy Abroad Wishlist
* Never in a Million Years Going to Happen Wishlist
* etc.

This "Summer Wishlist" is secretly a "Ways to Spend my Summer Paycheck Wishlist" with a little bit of "Things I Like that I Want to Talk About on the Internet".

Item #1:

Apple iPad 2. White. 16GB. Wi-Fi no 3G (who the hell needs 3G anyway?).

Accessories:

The orange smart cover. Yes it will look like a Dreamsicle but I do not care. I happen to love Dreamsicles.

* This is most likely what I will be buying myself with my summer paycheck.

This is at least my fourth blog...

I unfortunately seem to be part of that group of people who like/want to blog but either can't think of anything to write about/can't post often enough for the blog to be any good.

This is attempt number 4 to change that.

Wish me luck.
